In English - In & Out Genoa vs Roma: a good first win!

For Roma, this year starts in the best way thanks to a 0-1 win against Genoa, which is always a tough opponent. (Alessandro Tagliaboschi - translated by Chiara Trinci)

Luciano Spalletti’s side totally deserved victory because has dominated for the entire match, with only two or three goal shots for Genoa in the final minutes. These three points are very important for Roma; in fact, also Napoli, Inter, Milan and Lazio, the opponents for the next Champions League, managed to win.

There is no doubt that the man of the match, for the umpteenth time, is Wojciech Szczesny. The Polish goalkeeper stopped every Genoa attempt with a great save from Ninkovic in the first one and on the final minutes of the second one from Ocampos. After the first matches, during which he was not at his best, ex-Arsenal player improved time after time his performances, and now, he is the one and only number one for Roma. About that, thinking that he will return to London on this summer it hurts so much.

Also Edin Dzeko is one of the best players of the match. The Bosnian striker played in every area of the field, won against every opposing defender and helped his teammates in every action. He hit the post and Perin denied him his fourteenth goal. I want to take this opportunity to wish him a speedy recovery.

At last, Kevin Strootman made an excellent performance. It seemed that this is the best version of the Dutch midfielder. He recovered an incredible number of balls, so it is clear that his athletic condition has improved since the beginning of the season.

The same goes for Bruno Peres. He did not play in defense, but only in attack and represented a problem for the opponents. At the end of the match, he stopped because of cramps. Well done Bruno!

However, I have to say that all the three defenders, Jesus, Fazio and Rudiger played very well. The opposing strikers never became a problem for them.

These are just some of the key players of the match, those who stood out for their abilities, but the attitude of the whole team was great. “Cazzutissima” as Spalletti said. Moreover, this should be normal for a top team. As Baldissoni said, playing a home match or an away one should be the same. We hope that Roma will play in this way also against Udinese in the next away match (on 15th October). We have waited so long to see our team after the Christmas break and we have paid off with a great victory. See you next week. FORZA ROMA!
